Breakout Settings
Configure breakout and breakdown detection sensitivity.
The Settings panel allows users to customize how breakout and breakdown levels are detected.
There are two independent sections:
- Breakout Settings
- Breakdown Settings
Breakout Settings
Period Length
Determines how many historical bars are used when calculating resistance levels.
| Period Length | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Highest price from last 5 periods |
| 10 | Highest price from last 10 periods |
| 20 | Highest price from last 20 periods |
Lower Values
Examples:
- 3
- 5
Characteristics:
- More signals
- Faster detection
- More sensitive
- Higher probability of false breakouts
Best for:
- Day traders
- Scalpers
- Short-term momentum traders
Higher Values
Examples:
- 20
- 50
Characteristics:
- Fewer signals
- Stronger breakouts
- Less noise
- Higher confidence
Best for:
- Swing traders
- Position traders
- Trend followers
Breakdown Settings
Period Length
Determines how many historical bars are used when calculating support levels.
| Period Length | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 10 | Lowest price from last 10 periods |
| 20 | Lowest price from last 20 periods |
| 50 | Lowest price from last 50 periods |
Lower Values
Generate more frequent breakdown signals.
Useful for:
- Active traders
- Intraday traders
Higher Values
Generate fewer but more significant breakdown signals.
Useful for:
- Swing traders
- Trend followers
Applying Settings
- Open the Settings panel
- Adjust Breakout Period Length
- Adjust Breakdown Period Length
- Click Apply
The screen refreshes using the new criteria.
Restoring Defaults
- Open Settings
- Click Reset
- Default values are restored
