Trading Strategies

Use the Breakout Screener to find momentum, continuation, and reversal opportunities.

The Breakouts Screen is most useful when searching for:

  1. Momentum trades
  2. Trend continuation trades
  3. New trend reversals
  4. Relative strength opportunities

Strategy 1: Trading Bullish Breakouts

Goal

Find instruments pushing into new highs.

Workflow

  1. Open Breakouts tab
  2. Select Daily timeframe
  3. Sort by Chg% or W%
  4. Focus on:
    • Positive W%
    • Positive D%
    • Positive 4h%
    • Positive 1h%
  5. Open the chart
  6. Confirm the breakout
  7. Plan entries near breakout retests

Example

EUR/NZD appears with:

  • Breakout above resistance
  • Positive weekly trend
  • Positive daily trend
  • Positive intraday momentum

Potential interpretation:

  • Strong buying pressure
  • Trend continuation opportunity

Strategy 2: Trading Bearish Breakdowns

Goal

Find instruments showing increasing selling pressure.

Workflow

  1. Open Breakdowns tab
  2. Select Daily timeframe
  3. Sort by weakest performers
  4. Look for:
    • Negative W%
    • Negative D%
    • Negative 4h%
    • Negative 1h%
  5. Confirm breakdown
  6. Wait for pullback
  7. Look for bearish continuation setups

Example

NZD/USD appears with:

  • Weekly weakness
  • Daily weakness
  • Intraday weakness
  • Trading below support

Potential interpretation:

  • Sellers remain in control
  • Bearish continuation opportunity

Strategy 3: Trend Continuation Scans

Not every breakout starts a new trend.

Many simply continue an existing trend.

Bullish Continuation Checklist

✅ Positive W%

✅ Positive D%

✅ Positive 4h%

✅ Positive 1h%

✅ Trading above breakout level

Bearish Continuation Checklist

✅ Negative W%

✅ Negative D%

✅ Negative 4h%

✅ Negative 1h%

✅ Trading below breakdown level

Strategy 4: Relative Strength Analysis

The strongest breakouts are often found in the strongest markets.

The weakest breakdowns are often found in the weakest markets.

Example

SymbolW%
GBP/NZD+2.38%
CAD/CHF+0.88%

GBP/NZD demonstrates stronger relative strength.

Traders may prioritize stronger breakouts because they often attract more momentum traders.
